cassowary

This "burung kasuwari"the biggest bird in Merauke,West Papua. the Cassowary is a large, flightless bird from Papua(also known as Irian Jaya). It is the biggest bird here and the second-biggest bird in the world (only the ostrich is bigger), living in rainforest and the swampy forest along the sea. It can be as tall as 6.5 ft (2m) with 130 pounds flesh (about 130 pounds/60 kg) running around.
The females, bigger and more brightly coloured than the males, have powerful legs and protect themselves by kicking especially when breeding. Their 3-toed feet have sharp claws. Be aware these birds can run up to 32 mph (50km/hr) and jump up to 5 feet (1.5 m).
IRIAN JAYA HAS SOME VERY COOL WILD LIFE. ONE OF MY FAVORITES IS THE CASSOWARY BIRD. THIS DUMB BIRD HAS A HELMET ON HIS HEAD BECAUSE IT IS ALL WAYS RUNNING INTO THINGS. HOWEVER, THE 2004 EDITION OF THE GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS LISTS THE CASSOWARY AS THE WORLDS MOST DANGEROUS BIRDS
